Churdhar
The Highest PeakRising to an elevation of 3,647 meters, Churdhar (Chur-Chandni) is the highest peak in the Shivalik range. It is a trekker’s paradise, offering panoramic views that stretch from the Gangetic plains in the south to the snow-capped peaks of Badrinath and Kedarnath in the north.
• Spiritual Significance: The peak is the abode of Shirgul Devta (a manifestation of Lord Shiva). A giant statue of Lord Shiva sits at the summit, attracting pilgrims from across the region.
• Trekking Routes: Accessible via Nohradhar, Haripurdhar, or Sarahan, the trek passes through alpine meadows and dense deodar forests rich in wildlife, including the state bird, the Monal.

Nahan
The Royal Heritage Founded in 1621 A.D. by Raja Karam Prakash, Nahan is the district headquarters and a town steeped in history. Perched at an altitude of 932 meters in the Shivalik hills, this town is known for its cleanliness, well-planned streets, and colonial villas. It serves as a perfect base for exploring the district.

o Heritage Walks: Enjoy the Villa Round, Military Round, and Hospital Round for scenic views of the surrounding hills.
o Ranital Bagh: A beautiful garden located below the royal palace, perfect for a quiet stroll.
o Jaitak Fort: Located about 19 km from Nahan on a steep ridge, this fort was the site of a fierce battle between the Gurkhas and the British in the 19th century. It offers commanding views of the Sain, Nahan, and Dharthi hills.
Suketi Fossil Park (Shivalik Fossil Park) Located 21 km from Nahan on the banks of the Markanda River, this is the first park of its kind in Asia to be developed at the actual site of fossil discovery. The park features life-size fiberglass models of prehistoric animals like giant tortoises, hippopotamuses, and saber-tooth cats that roamed the area 2.5 million years ago. A museum on-site exhibits the actual fossil remains found here.

Paonta Sahib
A Spiritual Sanctuary Situated on the banks of the River Yamuna, Paonta Sahib is a bustling industrial town and a major pilgrimage center. The town gets its name from “Paon-tika” (foot-rested), signifying the place where Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the tenth Sikh Guru, stayed for four years.
• Gurudwara Paonta Sahib: An imposing dome overlooking the Yamuna, this Gurudwara houses relics of the Guru and is where he wrote much of the Dasam Granth.
• Khodri Dak Patthar: Just 25 km from Paonta Sahib, this is a beautiful picnic spot featuring an artificial lake formed by a diversion dam on the Yamuna river.
• Simbalbara National Park: Located in the Paonta Valley, this park is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. It is home to Goral, Sambhar, Spotted Deer, and Himalayan Black Bears.

Renuka Ji
The Legend of the Lake Renuka Ji is the most important place of religious and tourist interest in Sirmaur, located about 40 km from Nahan. The main attraction is the Renuka Lake, the largest natural lake in Himachal Pradesh. Shaped like a reclining woman, the lake is associated with the legend of Goddess Renuka and her son, Lord Parshuram.
• Renuka Fair: Held in November, this week-long international fair celebrates the symbolic reunion of Lord Parshuram with his mother.
• Renuka Wildlife Park: Surrounding the lake is a sanctuary where you can spot leopards, barking deer, and a variety of aquatic birds. A mini-zoo here houses rescued wild animals, making it a favorite for families.

Valleys and Hill Stations
Rajgarh (The Peach Valley) Known as the “Peach Bowl of Asia,” Rajgarh is a lush green valley famous for its stone fruit orchards. Located about 40 km from Solan, it is an ideal offbeat destination for camping and nature walks.
• Baru Sahib: Known as the Valley of Divine Peace, this spiritual center is located about 29 km from Rajgarh and is home to a prominent Gurudwara and educational institutions.
Haripurdhar Perched on a high ridge, this small hill station offers breathtaking views of the valleys below. It is famous for the temple of Mata Bhangayani, a deity believed to be related to Shirgul Devta of Churdhar. The town also features a historical fort built by the rulers of the erstwhile Sirmaur state to guard their frontiers.
Habban Valley Surrounded by thick deodar forests and apple orchards, Habban is a scenic village located at an altitude of 2063 meters. It serves as a quiet getaway and a starting point for treks to Churdhar.
